There's a solution for users who like the concept of a small-form-factor, Atom-powered PC but don't want to buy something pre-built. MSI has unveiled the Wind Board, a simple, standalone Micro-ATX motherboard with Intel Atom processor support.
Although MSI hasn't penned a press release to announce it, a listing for the board has popped up on the firm's website. The listing mentions a 437-pin socket, an Intel 945GC chipset, two DDR2-667 memory slots, one 32-bit PCI slot, two 300MB/s Serial ATA ports, one IDE port, and 100Mbps Ethernet connectivity. On its rear I/O area, the Wind Board features a VGA port, four USB ports, and analog audio ports for 5.1-channel audio.
If a report from a couple of months ago is accurate, MSI may end up featuring the board in its forthcoming Wind desktop. Like Asus, MSI is cooking up a cheap desktop system to join its new low-cost subnotebook. (Thanks to Fudzilla for the heads-up.)
