We've heard a lot about MSI's upcoming Wind laptop, but the company is also cooking up a desktop machine with the same name. The folks at TweakTown got a chance to see that system first-hand in Taipei, Taiwan yesterday, and they have some interesting details to share.
The Wind desktop looks to be about the size of a large encyclopedia tome, and it packs a Mini-ITX motherboard with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom 230 processor, 1GB of DDR2-533 memory, a 160GB Serial ATA hard drive, a DVD combo drive, Gigabit Ethernet, and a 65W power adapter. Several photos also reveal a card reader, multi-channel audio ports, and VGA display output (no DVI).
MSI showed the machine playing back 720p high-definition video "fairly smoothly for the most part," with processor usage hovering around 45-55%. More impressive yet, the whole Wind desktop PC used only 30 watts of power during the demo. MSI told TweakTown the system "will use no more than 35W" in total.
