About us
Welcome to the tech report, your source for the latest on personal computing technology and culture. We provide fresh news and reviews with our own brand of clear-headed analysis, healthy perspective, and a dash of levity. On top of that, we've made TR a truly interactive experience, with ample room for your own comments on the events of the day.

And we aim to give you something to talk about—with running news commentary as it happens, frank reviews, and in-depth tech articles on the hottest new PC hardware. Processors are overclocked, video cards are benchmarked, the beefiest PC tech of the day is pushed to the absolute limits, and we lay it all out for you in easy-to-read graphs and concise prose.

So look around. Scan our archives for the best reviews and a plethora of direct comparisons of PC gear. Jump into the lively debate and discussion in our forums, where you'll find expert assistance with system builds, troubleshooting, upgrades, and social skills for geeks from, uh, PC professionals. Join the TR Folding team to help Stanford University search for cures to several common diseases. And check our front page daily for all the latest news and reviews.

Below you'll find info on each of our staff members. If you'd like to send news tips, please direct mail to report@techreport.com. Press inquiries, requests for information on advertising, and other business-related correspondence should be directed to adam@techreport.com.

Our staff includes:

Scott Wasson
An incurable hardware freak with a penchant for creating elaborate benchmark graphs, Scott heads up the crew here at The Tech Report. After earning bachelors and masters degrees in religion, Scott couldn't resist the pull of the fledgling Internet, so he jumped into the IT industry. He worked for eight years as a system and network administrator, building the IT infrastructures at several Internet service providers, the requisite failed dot-com company, and an electronic stock trading firm. During that time, he started writing for web sites, eventually growing TR from a part-time obsession into a full-time publication. These days, he specializes in reviews of CPUs and GPUs, as well as serving as TR's Editor-in-Chief. You can reach him at damage@techreport.com.

Geoff Gasior
TR's utility player, Geoff has a bachelor's degree in Management of Information Systems and covers everything from motherboards to sound cards, with countless hours of hard drive and RAID testing thrown in for good measure. From the steamy confines of his benchmarking sweatshop in the great Canadian north, he attempts to redefine indulgent graphing excess, often losing himself in Excel in the process. When he's not testing and graphing, Geoff spends his time in decidedly un-geek-like fashion; he's done marathons, Ironman, and competed in the world solo 24-hour mountain bike championships.

Cyril Kowaliski
TR news guy and System Guide crafter, Cyril loves writing about shiny new things and whether or not they're good to buy. Cyril also serves as our in-house web designer and CSS ninja. He was born in Paris, France, but spent his teen years near the Loch Ness in Scotland. After years of unsuccessful monster hunts and culinary experiments involving haggis and fine cheese, Cyril returned to his fatherland and started writing for The Tech Report. You can get in touch with Cyril at ckowaliski@techreport.com. Send news tips to report@techreport.com.

Adam Eiberger
As our "biz guy," Adam handles our advertising sales and helps in plotting our takeover of the known Internet. When he's not traveling the globe burnishing TR's image at trade shows, he's on the phone with marketing guys from the companies getting skewered in reviews by the aforementioned editors. "Any publicity is good publicity! . . . wanna buy some ads?" If you have a business idea or want info about advertising, shoot Adam some mail at adam@techreport.com.

Ronald Hanaki
Our resident Shortbread chef, Ronald provides us with daily doses of news, perspective, and wit from around the web. You can see his work on the site's front page or showcased in The Breadbox. Ronald uses his superpowers to provide us with the occasional translation of a fresh bit of news from Japan (among other things).

Stephen Roylance
As our Linux guru and keeper of the TR servers, Mr. Roylance makes sure the site stays up and running. He also configures new server hardware for deployment and makes sure we're on top of critical security patches.

As our crack web developer, Steve also custom developed nearly all of the site's back-end code and patiently works to incorporate crazy new features as we dream them up.

Kevin Sweeney
TR's forum overlord, Kevin tirelessly labors over the gerbil herd, imposing a modicum of order amidst the chaos. Kevin directs a team of forum moderators who work together to enforce the rules and keep conversation civil. To relax from this daunting task, he works in the aerospace industry as an engineer, designing both recovery and navigation systems.

Andy Brown
Andy was here from the beginning, co-founding TR along with Scott. He's worked in the IT industry as a network and system admin for over 10 years now. With an encyclopedic knowledge of all things tech, from PC hardware to video game consoles to A/V gear to Linux, Andy has an uncanny knack for separating the signal from the noise in the breakneck-paced world of today's technology.
